About "Gerbert Comes to Beaver County"

In November of 2008, Andy Holmes came to Beaver County, PA to do a program for me. It consisted of four (4) appearances in our public schools grades K-3rd graders. Andy and Gerbert had a performance at the Beaver Valley Mall and First Christian Church in Beaver, PA where I am the senior minister. In all those appearances we saw about 1000 children. As a part of this program there was a lot of advertisement and we distributed 6500 calendar-coloring books all over Beaver County. This was facilitated by Prevention planners who were employees of Prevention Network who were in the various schools. Another 500 books were given away to Headstart Beaver County to their children.

The last piece of this project was developed with the help of Community College Beaver County. A script for a 30-second PSA was developed, put on video, and is currently being submitted to radio and TV markets in the Pittsburgh area. The piece is entitled: "How Smart Are You?" It features Gerbert and an 8-year old girl in a game show format. You may view it on this site or www.firstchristianchurchbeaver.org

This entire project cost about $12,000.00 and was completely funded with government money. It cost my church zero dollars. If you would like to know how you might do what we did and even improve on it, I would be happy to talk with you and arrange Gerbert to come to your area.

Drug and alcohol prevention must start early in a child's life to compete with all the harmful messages they get every day of their impressionable lives.
